Hope alumni know that their relationships with the college and with each other do not end at graduation.
Alumni have proven generous with their time and advice to students and fellow graduates. Through lifelong learning and career development, relationships formed at Hope change lives both on campus and in communities everywhere. Tapping into the potential of this network is a powerful way to bring your career to life.
When you graduate with a Hope degree or complete at least 45 credits, you are officially a member of the Alumni Association. It’s free and an automatic part of your lifelong relationship with Hope. As a member, the college and alumni volunteers will work hard to keep you in touch with your inner Dutch through events, affinity connections and career resources.
You can stay connected and be an active member by activating your profile on , making plans to connect at a Hope event, and exploring ways you can get involved.

Retiring Faculty and Staff Have Served Nearly 450 Combined Years
The 16 members of the Hope faculty and staff retiring across 2024-25 have devoted nearly 450 combined years to helping make the college the living and learning community that has shaped young lives for generations.
Former Mayor Phil Tanis to Direct the Van Raalte Institute of Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø
Phil Tanis, former mayor of Holland, Michigan, has been designated as the next director of the Van Raalte Institute (VRI) of Âé¶¹´«Ã½¹ÙÍø. His term will begin July 1. In the interim, Tanis is serving as a senior research fellow at the institute. Tanis will replace current director Donald A. Luidens who will continue as the editor-in-chief of the Van Raalte Press and as a senior research fellow.
Retired Music Professor Robert Ritsema Dies
Dr. Robert Ritsema, a 1957 Hope graduate who was a member of the college’s music faculty for 32 years before retiring in 1999, died on Monday, April 21, 2025. He was 89.
